Prepared vegetables, sauces, and other foods can be stored in containers for easy transportation and quick campsite preparation.
Some meals that you never thought were possible at the campsite can be achieved with gourmet camping recipes for dutch ovens. Dutch ovens allow you to bake at the campfire and duplicate almost any dish you like that requires baking. Pies, pizzas, pastas and roasted fish dishes can even be made this way.
Using a little creativity, you can transform almost any of your favorite gourmet recipes to become gourmet camping recipes for delicious and impressive food that is able to be prepared around the campfire. Also, recipe books and online web sites are great sources for gourmet camping recipes. A deluxe gourmet camping recipe is sure to impress your camping companions. Following is a simple gourmet camping recipe to get you started. This fish dish is not too complicated to prepare, especially if you do some of the preparation work, such as mincing the garlic and zesting the lemon and lime, in your kitchen beforehand. The dish is also simplified since no complicated pieces of camping cook ware or utensils are needed – all you need is aluminum foil, and a portable grill if desired.
• Place two salmon steaks on some heavy duty aluminum foil
• Grate some lemon and lime zest into a bowl
• Squeeze some lemon and lime juice over the fish and squeeze the remaining juice into the bowl with the lemon and lime zest
• Sprinkle over the salmon one tablespoon of light olive oil, one teaspoon of cumin, one teaspoon of minced garlic, and salt and pepper
• Cover the salmon with thin slices of lemon and lime
• Mix three tablespoons of melted butter with the lemon and lime zest bowl, then spread on top
• Close the foil packages and cook the salmon by placing in hot coals near the fire or on a grill
• The salmon is done when the fish becomes flaky
